Data Conversion

If your data is already in a computer, it can probably be converted into PastPerfect. There is no need to reenter this data. We charge $50 per hour for conversion services. The average cost for converting catalog records is around $500. Factors that determine the price include the number of files, the number of records, the number of data fields, and the amount of information you can provide about the data.

If you send us a copy of your data, we will give you a free quote for conversion. You can send the data to us on CD, zip disk, 3 1/2" diskettes, or via e-mail attachment. If the files are large, they should be compressed with WinZip. Before sending your data be sure to complete a Conversion Request Form. We can assist you in assembling your data and sending it to us for the quote. The conversion usually takes from four to eight weeks to complete.

Some of the data formats that we have converted include: Access, Argus, ASCII, dBase, DIF, Excel, Filemaker Pro, MARC, MCMS, Minaret, MIMSY, Paradox, Q&A, Rediscovery, Snap for DOS, and Snap for Windows.

To insure that you receive the best possible price and that your data is converted to your specifications, we recommend that you create and send us a data map along with the data. Click here for information on creating a data map. If you are converting from Snap for Dos, MCMS, or Minaret don't bother with the data maps as we have already created them.
