Scatter/Gather gives you the ability to enter data on two or more computers that are not connected by a network. The Scatter and Gather features are used to select and transfer catalog records from one PastPerfect computer and merge them with records on another PastPerfect computer.
Due to the increase in capacity and complexity of the database structure, Scatter/Gather is not an available upgrade for PastPerfect 5.0.

Scatter/Gather is a tool designed to help organizations that cannot network or remotely access a computer where staff plan to catalog collections. It enables PastPerfect Version 4.0 users to enter data at multiple sites that are not connected by a wide area network, then merge the separate datasets together in one comprehensive database for the entire organization. Important Note: While Scatter/Gather will help you when PastPerfect 4.0 is installed on more than one computer, you must be aware of the license restrictions involved. When you purchase the PastPerfect Basic Program, it is licensed to run on just one computer or network. When you purchase Scatter/Gather you are allowed to install PastPerfect on an additional computer that is used ONLY to edit or input new catalog records that will then be transferred to the main computer. The license does not allow use of the other features such as Research, and Reports on the additional computer, those functions must only be performed on the main computer. If you want to have more than one computer with full PastPerfect functions, you must purchase multiple copies of the PastPerfect Basic Program, one for EACH computer.
