1. MWeb Universal Makes its debut with SearchBaltimore.PastPerfect-Online.com!

Systems Planning and PastPerfect Software are pleased to announce the release of MWeb Universal™. MWeb Universal allows the public to search multiple PastPerfect-Online databases at the same time.

MWeb Universal can be a valuable research and reference tool for the public to search your data on the web. Museums with similar themes, regions, or collections can use MWeb Universal to provide their users with a richer experience and depth of information.

You may use MWeb Universal for as few as 2 museums or as many as necessary. Additional museums may be added to the group at any time.

MWeb Universal features include:
- The user can limit which contributors' databases are searched.
- Records can have any amount of data and any number of images.
- Interface can be customized by choosing options or by modifying CSS for more control.
-
Graphics may be added for branding.
- No support contract required -- one low price for a perpetual license. However, our top-quality support is available if needed.

For a firsthand look at MWeb Universal, please visit Search Baltimore, our first installation and example site. It provides integrated searching of the combined holdings of three Baltimore museums: the Baltimore Museum of Industry, the Johns Hopkins Campus Collection, and the Jewish Museum of Maryland. You may try Search Baltimore at http://SearchBaltimore.PastPerfect-Online.com to experience the latest in online collections research.

For details, please see the slideshow at http://www.systemsplanning.com/mweb/unislides/slide0.asp or the MWeb Universal homepage at http://www.systemsplanning.com/mweb/universal.asp.

6. Look Who's Using PastPerfect: Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, FL
Special thanks to Steve Hack, Membership Coordinator, for contributing this month's article!

Built in 1965, the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, was designed to reflect a Palladian influence encompassing the symmetry and style of ancient Roman architecture. Initially housing ten galleries, the Museum of Fine Arts now holds twenty galleries, two gardens, and an outstanding collection of over 4,500 years of art. With works by Monet, Renoir, Gauguin, Rodin, O'Keeffe, and Wyeth, the Museum of Fine Arts is decidedly one of the finest art museums in Florida and the only museum on the western coast of Florida to have such a comprehensive collection.

With the expansion of the museum building and collection, the museum's library, fundraising, and membership also grew dramatically. Prior to 2001, we used antiquated methods for recording our information. That year the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, purchased PastPerfect, helping the museum easily record, store, and retrieve information.

With the Museum of Fine Arts in the process of expansion again, we decided to create a new membership card to reflect our look toward the future. We had heard of a company called SmartTech ID, which sold small card printing machines that produced great looking plastic ID cards. We contacted SmartTech ID to see if their card printer would be compatible with PastPerfect. The company sent a printer to the PastPerfect support office, who agreed to help us test out printing membership cards with PastPerfect 4.0. After some testing, everything came together to produce our new membership cards. The front of the card now has a full-color image of our museum in the background with important membership information in the foreground in an easy-to-read format. The back of our card has a full-color image of our Kapok tree in full bloom with the museum's contact information.

Our members were so impressed with the new membership card that they donated enough money to purchase the card printer and 2 years worth of supplies. We are now printing our new membership cards and getting great reviews. Our processing time for memberships has been cut in half. Our policy is that each member will receive a new card when their membership comes up for renewal. Many of our members are renewing early so they can have one of the new membership cards. Thanks SmartTech ID and PastPerfect!

7. PastPerfect 4.0 Report Highlight: Donations, Dues, and In-kind Gifts

PastPerfect 4.0 users can now create reports that combine dues, donations, and in-kind gifts from all contacts. The Donations, Dues, and In-Kind Gifts report allows you to print a list of combined dues, donations, and in-kind gifts that were given within a specific time frame. You can create a list of donations, dues and in-kind gifts received as a result of a particular campaign or campaign activity. You can even get a listing of all dues, donations, and in-kind gifts over a specific amount, allowing you to target specific "giving levels".

To access this report, click on the Reports button on the Main Menu, and then click on the Dues & Donations button on the left hand side. The Donations, Dues, and In-kind Gifts report will be about halfway down the list. Click on the report name and then click on Run Report.

After you have made your selections for date ranges, amount levels, and campaign information, you can preview or print out the report or export the results, including donor contact information, to Excel. PastPerfect versions 4.0C8 and above can also print out this report to PDF and Word documents.
